Historic Landscape Assessment
Over the past eight years we have developed and pioneered a unique, multi-source approach to this complex but fascinating field.
Using a mixture of desk-based assessment and ground truthing, we can deploy a niche, diverse skillset to peel back the layers of the past to reveal the evolution of the arboricultural landscape over hundreds of years, even as far back as the Norman Conquest.
Whether your project concerns the restoration of a historic landscape to its original design, or ancient woodland inventory validation, our expertise in this area can solve a number of real-world problems.
Importantly, our research indicates that a high proportion of woodlands listed within the ancient woodland inventory, have arisen 1600AD and accordingly are wrongly listed as ancient. This difference is of critical importance to an increasing number of planning applications.
Do you want to know if your “designated ancient woodland” is actually ancient? We can probably tell you.
Please contact us if we can be of any assistance.
